The official World Record according to the Guinness book of records for the most gins in a bar is 161 and while we know that the particular hotel which holds the record probably now has more than 161 we are delighted to announce that we have beaten their official record. Gins have been added via our ‘bring gin to the Inn’ and through our Gin merchants to bring us up to an amazing 162 Gins!!!! As you can see from the photo we have three Gins from the ‘Few’ distillery in America. Each bottle signed by the distiller and truly craft examples with an ‘aged’ Gin matured in Bourbon casks. Almost a bourbon Gin!! We are proud to announce The Cholmondeley Arms has reached the final of the Publican’s Morning Advertiser Best Spirit Pub 2013. This is a massive achievement and we are delighted to be recognised. The judging is taking place over the coming weeks. Steve, Stru and Monika have done an excellent job over the last one and a half years to promote all things Gin. We couldn’t be more proud of their achievement.

Thanks to all our Gin loving customers who have joined us in this time to savour a wonderful gin and tonic and have participated in all the Gin Things we do.
Fingers crossed we can go to London in September and win it!!!

A lot of people avoid the Cholmondeley Arms at ‘Pageant of Power’ time because they think it will be too busy at the pub. Well it is quite the opposite.

Our Head Chef Christian is now hand picking Heritage tomatoes, courgette flowers, pea shoots, spinach and a wonderful assortment of salad leaves from our local growers ensuring freshness from green house to kitchen in a matter of minutes.

After a very wet and cold winter our car park needed a lot of work to ensure our guests arriving at the Cholmondeley Arms and the Headmasters House Guest Rooms had a pleasant ‘landing’. Rick and Paul from Caddishome did a brilliant job building fencing and completely resurfacing the more countrified end of our car park. The works look outstanding so big thanks to Paul and Rick.

As summer approaches what could be better than a cool, long gin and tonic. As many of you will know the gin market has gone bonkers of late and new Gin is coming to market faster than vodka did some years ago.
Finally the next is ‘Blue Ribbon Essential’ it has nicely meshed aromas of anise and nutmeg with a layer of delicate juniper and minerals underneath follow through on a very soft, satiny entry to a vibrant, dryish medium body with wet grain, dried citrus and riverstone notes. Finishes with a layers of dried citrus, and flowers cinnamon and spice melange reminiscent of egg nogg or spiced cake. Try it in a martini.
Came across a really interesting article on Gin by Brent Rose in Gizmodo’s weekly booze column.

With the arrival of four new gins the 140 Gin ‘barrier’ has been surpassed. It is hard to believe just under a year and a half ago we opened the doors to the new Cholmondeley Arms where we thought we had done well to have 40 gins on our bar. The Gin market has grown significantly since we decided gin was the thing at Cholmondeley. Now we have added 100 more gins which is fantastic. We are now 27 from the Guinness Book of records!! The new additions include two different gins from Gordon’s and Tanqueray!!!
