Fourth Car Meet of the year another success…..

Thank you to all our car enthusiasts who joined us for Car Meet 13 on Sunday July 22nd here at the Cholmondeley Arms our fourth of the year.

It was great to see more new faces in addition to our loyal following of Car Club Members. Quite a few Porsches made it for a little recognition of the 70th anniversary of Porsche.

All of the cars that featured on the day can now be seen on the ‘Past Events’ page on the Car Club pages on the Cholmondeley Arms website www.cholmondeleyarms.co.uk. Tim the owner of the Cholmondeley Arms and Tim the landlord of the Cholmondeley Arms were once again on hand to recruit 10 new members and to take photos of the cars on show.

Landlord Tim chose his ‘Porsche of the Day’, ‘Best Car in Class’ and ‘Cherished Car’ of the Day.

Congratulations to Tony who’s white 911 996 GT2 won Porsche of the Day against many other great Porsches present.

Best Car in Class went to Stephen with his Morgan 3 wheeler and ‘Cherished Car’ of the Day went to Steve with his 1986 Citroen 2CV. Each received Gift Cards and for Porsche owner Tony a special framed picture celebrating the development of the famous 911 presented by owner Tim.

It isn’t easy choosing winners on the day as there were so many great examples with a few vintage, plenty of classics, certainly some sports performance cars, as well as some great examples of cars that are truly cherished.

There will be one further car meet towards the end of August….. date to follow… where we will be giving each car club member attending a special ‘Passport’ to get stamped as they drive the six pubs of Cheshire Cat! This will be briefed in more detail later but was the idea of one of our members and it’s a cracking one!

We will also be working on some decent drive out days for next year too as we now have another member who is keen to start this with our support.

Please also look out for the ‘Car Treasure Hunts’ in late September and early October which are great fun especially the Porsches versus the Rest at the Bulls Head in Mobberley! Dates will follow.

Once again thank you for attending.

Kind regards

Tim and Tim

Cholmondeley Car Meet Season gets off to a cracking start!

Thank you to all the car enthusiasts who joined us for Car Meet 12 on Sunday (April 29th) at the Cholmondeley Arms.

It was great to see new faces in addition to our loyal following of Car Club Members. We welcomed an excellent mix of cars on the day and some 70 cars turned up on a chilly but dry day which gets the car meet season off to a great start.

Most of the cars that featured on the day can now be seen on the ‘Past Events’ page on the Car Club pages on the Cholmondeley Arms website www.cholmondeleyarms.co.uk. Tim the owner of the Cholmondeley Arms and Tim the landlord of the Cholmondeley Arms (we try and keep it easy on the names!!) were on hand to recruit 15 new members and to take photos of the cars on show.

Owner Tim chose his ‘Car of the Day’ and ‘Best Car in Class’.

Congratulations to Lee with his beautiful blue MGA 1959 Mark 1 who took the ‘Best Car in Class’ and to Hugh and Sue who took ‘Car of the Day’ with their very rare 1985 E24 BMW M6 in truly amazing condition. They both picked up gift vouchers to use at the Cholmondeley Arms or one of our other pubs in Mobberley or Allostock.

It was very difficult choosing winners on the day as there were so many great examples with a few vintage, plenty of classics, certainly some sports performance cars, as well as some great examples of cars that are truly cherished. Tim promises to make sure his car is a little cleaner next time!!

Car Club member Malcolm invites you to a ‘classic car breakfast meet’ on 20th May (details below) and we will be back with our next events on the Car Club events page as soon as we have fixed the dates.

Once again thank you for attending.
Kind regards

2017 Chum Treasure Hunt.

Despite a really horrid day weather wise 6 brave teams rocked up for a challenging car treasure hunt around the lanes of the Cholmondeley Estate. Storm Brian ensured conditions weren’t easy but the teams excelled with some great efforts to ensure they picked up some difficult clues. Coupled with excellent answers on the quiz questions as well as the hunt itself the teams scored well.

The clear winners by the end of the marking by Tim (the judge) were the Valentino’s!!! Pictured at the bar with the trophy and their Porsche driving experience. Well done team Valentino’s and big thanks to all the other teams that took part. In second place were the Larden Green Losers with the Cholmondeley Chasers in third! Here’s to the next hunt at the Fitzherbert Arms this coming Saturday.

Chum Treasure Hunt ends in a draw…..

treasThe annual Cholmondeley Arms Car Treasure hunt had a record number of teams with the weather looking good! Quiz questions about the Cholmondeley Arms and the Car Club as well as a car picture quiz all had to be completed as well as the active treasure hunt itself! There were 85 points to get and by the end two teams couldn’t be separated!
Teams called ‘No Idea’ and ‘Team Chumps’ seem to defy their team names by bagging 65 points each as the Cup and Cholmondeley Arms gift vouchers were shared for the first time!!
Well done to all who took part! See you next year!!

No Cheating for the Cheetahs!

THE CHEETAHS

THE CHEETAHS

It was that time again when members of the Cholmondeley Car club went head to head with each other for the title of Champions of the Cholmondeley Car Club Treasure Hunt 2015.

Our famous Car Club Assist Ben Redwood managed to put together a tasking hunt with some difficult challenges as 6 cars hit the road at 3pm on Saturday 5th September.

The weather conditions were good but the distraction of the rugby and holidays meant last year’s Champs and runners up could not make it to challenge for the trophy!!

David and Dan made up the famous twosome who drove under the name the Cheetahs and came back to Cholmondeley with the most clues answered and met all the other criteria to be this year’s Treasure Hunt Champions!

Well done the Cheetahs and thank you to all the car teams who took part and thanks to Ben, Jess and the Chum team for setting up a great day.

Car Clubs enjoy the spring weather!

South Cheshire Raiders enjoyed Cholmondeley before heading out for a day’s drive. Breakfast was served in the form of sausage and bacon baps and lots of coffee and tea too. The cars as always are a great spectacle and can be seen below in the gallery from Aston Martin’s to Lagondas…there are some special cars indeed…a stunning E-Type and some perfect old Rileys.

Any car clubs wishing to use Cholmondeley as a finish or a start to their drive day can contact Jess or Will at info@cholmondeleyarms.co.uk

‘Team Google’ win Treasure Hunt

treasuIt was a beautiful albeit windy day in Cholmondeley on Saturday for our annual car treasure hunt. The treasure hunt was open to our car club members as well as locals who wanted to partake.

All teams set off at 3pm with the instruction to arrive back by 5.30pm along the treasure hunt there were general knowledge questions to answer and pictures to take. It was a beautiful route around the Cheshire Countryside.

When the teams arrived back at the pub all question papers were marked whilst teams eagerly awaited the results. There were two teams who finished the treasure hunt and general knowledge questions on the same mark, so it went to the tie break question!

These two teams were ‘The Pitstops’ who finished in third place in their Alfa Romeo Spider. ‘The Pitstops’ were beaten by the ‘Westfield Wallies’ by 3 points in the tie break. The ‘Westfield Wallies’ completed the treasure hunt in their Westfield. In first place was ‘Team Google’ they completed the hunt in their Mitsubishi also known as ‘The Tank’.

Thank you to all of the teams who took part and we look forward to seeing you all again next year!!
