The Cholmondeley Arms just before refurbishment

Who’s that famous guy walking towards the door of the Cholmondeley Arms for the first time!!

It took some time to get the Cholmondeley Arms and we are delighted to be in a position to build on the pubs excellent history

That front door has to change

The signage too can be improved

A beautiful garden with great potential

The Stags head looks over the building before the builders arrive!!

A tired interior offers plenty of opportunity

The beginnings of the refurb (week 1)

Some of the team and our famous local gather by the old bar on Sunday 24th July as we close for the restoration of a great pub

The pub looks so big when it's empty

The strip out started straight away on Monday 25th July

Wonderful wood floors are discovered under the old carpets

More wood floors revealed

The Bar slowly disappeared!!!

Next will be the sand blasting of the interior

The walls in the main 'school' dining room are sandblasted back to natural brick

The plans are put on the old wall that supported the back bar as the bar completely disappears

As the sun shone the car park looked like a furniture sale. All the best pieces will be re-used

As we shut our doors look who turned up for a drink!!!

Luckily we could reward their endeavour with some 'fizzy stuff'

Plans & debates (week 2)

The builders lean over the plans and debate the next 'moves'

The Headmasters House B&B awaits its paint job

The internal sand blasting is now complete

The old internal porch has now gone

The old kitchen is stripped completely

The 'old school' radiators have come up a treat!!

The old sign will be down soon

The whole pub is being re-wired

Painting Commences (week 3)

The Headmasters House B&B has a new fence and is being painted

The hedges too are all being tidied up.

The land at the rear of the pub has been smartened up

The picket fence is now built

Decisions and plans are tweaked by the day

The eaves are now a warmer colour and the lighting is waiting for the signage

Old settles are waiting to be re-used

The Headmasters house gets warmer paint finishes

The entrance is ready for tiling.

The large ceilings are repaired and being painted

The outside dining area is extended.

The previously grim toilets are getting fully refurbished

The old wood joists are sandblasted and the walls of the pub are painted and waiting for mirrors etc

The Victorian back bar has arrived

What a great day to paint a pub!!
